Costa
Rica For Canadians Costa Rica is a PARADISE for naturalists and adventurers but with the calm and serenity for those who want to get away from it all. It is a peaceful country with a friendly culture. Covering 51,000 square kilometers, you will find many special places to discover. 25% of the country is protected by means of Biological Reserves, Wildlife refuges and National Parks. Its territory creates a narrow passage that shelters flora and fauna of North and South America. Costa Rica has over 800 miles of coastline on both the Caribbean and Pacific Oceans. With many friendly faces and unmatched rich biodiversity, visitors will find an abundance of activities to suit their wishes. A Jewel CALLED COSTA RICA In
Costa Rica, contrasts and natural diversity are great.
Few places in the world present, within such a small area, so many
natural variants. The climate is pleasant all year. Costa Rica consists of 6
main regions, each with its own charm. CENTRAL
VALLEY The
first contact with this peaceful land is generally San Jose, the cosmopolitan
capitol. It is situated at a height
of 1,149 meters above sea level and maintains an average temperature of 24
degrees Celsius. The dry season
begins in November and the rainy season begins in May.
Of the many places to visit in the Central Region, the Poas and Irazu
Volcanoes, the Cartago Ruins, the Lancaster Gardens for orchid lovers, the Museo
Nacional, and The Butterfly Farm – only ½ km. from the Guest House, are just
a few.
CENTRAL
PACIFIC Spectacular
beaches or adventurous rafting trips can be found in this region.
Our Guest Cottages and Hotel are here for that very reason. Only 2 hours from San Jose, you will not miss one minute of
sea breezes or sun. From the beaches of Herradura, Jaco (party central),
Hermosa, Esterillos to Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park, the beauty is
everywhere. For peace and quiet or excitement and adventure, you will love this
area. CARIBBEAN The main city of the Caribbean region is Limon; a melting pot of different races. Tortuguero, Puerto Viejo, Cahuita and Manzanillo are very interesting places to visit with their fascinating marine ecosystems and great biodiversity. NORTHERN
PACIFIC Mainly
the Province of Guanacaste forms this region of the Pacific with two mountain
ranges. It is the land of folklore,
music, color and sun bathed beaches. For
surf lovers, Tamarindo, Coco, Naranjo and Negra beaches are just a few
recommended, but remember, not many roads are paved in this area. SOUTH
PACIFIC For
an adventurous trip, this region is the place to visit.
The area extends from the Baru River to the border of Panama.
It will take you 6 hours in a 4-wheel drive vehicle to drive because the
roads are gravel and rough – even by Costa Rican standards! The Golfo Dulce constitutes a real “Tropical fjord” whose
mass of water is unique in America. MOUNTAINS/LOWLANDS Costa Rica is a photographers dream. Can't wait to go back! Back to Cost Rica Main PageThe Lonely Planet - Costa Rica "Courage
is the power to let go of the familiar."
